A new poster for Mary, Queen of Scots featuring Saoirse and Margot Robbie has been released! We have added it to our photo gallery, as well as two promotional images of Saoirse as Queen Mary Stuart – one of which seems to be part of the movie’s official photoshoot. The other is a better quality version of a still we had added before.

Saoirse is on the August cover of VOGUE! This marks the beginning of the promotion for the film Mary, Queen of Scots, one most of us have been waiting for literally years. A brand new, stunning photoshoot by Jamie Hawkesworth was released along with the article on the magazine’s website. The images have been added to our gallery, and you can read Saoirse’s cover story below.

Saoirse Ronan is describing the aftermath of her first acting job. “I went into this melancholic state for a few weeks,” she tells me. “I remember sitting on the bed with Mam next to me, and I was like: ‘I’m never going to have that experience again.’ ” The community that had come together on set and developed real bonds had now permanently dispersed. “It was that thought: That exact crew will never work together again. Never.” The project was an Irish television drama called The Clinic. When she appeared on it, Ronan was nine years old.

Now 24, Ronan has come to meet me in a coastal Irish town on a sunny afternoon in May. Ireland is facing a referendum to repeal its ban on abortion, and lurid posters of fetuses are everywhere. Ronan recently appeared in a video supporting the reproductive rights campaign—a long-growing grassroots movement that finally succeeded in pressuring the government to hold a referendum—and everyone is talking about it. In the café where we pick up lunch, we fall into conversation with our server about the upcoming vote.

Saoirse talks to The LA Times

Saoirse continues to promote Lady Bird all over the United States, and The Los Angeles Times has just posted a new interview with her, which features a brand new photo session. We’ve added it to our gallery, and you can read their article below.

When Saoirse Ronan found out she’d be spending a couple of weeks in Los Angeles to promote her new film, “Lady Bird,” she asked to stay in an apartment instead of a hotel. She wanted to be able to light her Diptyque candles, do her own laundry and drink herbal tea before bed.

“I think it’s good for me to go back at the end of the night and look after myself,” says Ronan, 23.

But when she arrived at her temporary L.A. home, she found bags of groceries from Whole Foods awaiting her. Her mother, more than 5,000 miles away in Ireland, had ordered the provisions online.

“She bought vegetables for me to cook with,” the actress says. “I have such a great mam. She makes sure I’m getting a good dinner from across the pond.”

Ronan is exceptionally close to her mother, Monica. Growing up as an only child in Carlow, Ireland’s second-smallest county, she relished her relationship with her homemaker mother and actor father. They’d all watch “Seinfeld” together, and Ronan was such a rule-follower that she willingly did the dishes, because she wanted her parents “to be happy.”

Saoirse has recently spoken to Backstage magazine about ‘Brooklyn’, and the article has just been released. Our gallery was updated with a photoshoot featured in the issue, and you can read her interview below.

Eilis Lacey is a girl on the cusp of womanhood in “Brooklyn,” director John Crowley’s adaptation of Colm Tóibín’s 2009 novel. Leaving behind her rural hometown in Ireland, Eilis is heading into an uncertain future in 1950s New York. And though the period setting might seem distancing, the story of growth and the nature of home spoke directly to star Saoirse Ronan.

“As you leave home, you’re never able to take that step back,” Ronan says. “The realization that I had is that no matter what, once you have an experience that is separate from your home life and from your family and where you grew up, you will never be the same again. You will never be the person that you’d have been had you stayed.”

Sitting over hors d’oeuvres at Manhattan’s Crosby Street Hotel, Ronan is referring not only to screenwriter Nick Hornby’s script (which charts Eilis’ move to Brooklyn; her first love; and her return to Ireland upon a family member’s death), but also to her own life. When Crowley first approached her about the role several years ago, Ronan was in the midst of planning a permanent move from her parents’ house in Dublin to London. Much like Eilis’ emigration to Brooklyn, Ronan’s move to London was her unequivocal leap into independence and adulthood—one she made just before filming “Brooklyn.”
