Rarely does life give us moments of synchronicity in the pursuit of our own art , that tailor so uniquely to something occurring in our own lives. That Saoirse Ronan was having the same challenge of leaving Ireland and similar aspects in her own life, lent something beyond magical to her character in this Colm Toibin masterpiece brought so marvelously to the screen . She has caught something so beautiful and innocent about humanity and love, I think she well may be a shoe in for an Oscar.
The whole production has the gleam of a picture postcard of a simpler time in history , without overdue candied sentiment. Only pure, and shining love of the highest order is showcased here. One wonders if she is somewhere inside herself, secretly aware of what she has caught in this most beautiful of love stories. I am so honored to be able to be the first person to comment on this. I am sure a virtual stream of similar tributes are in order !
