The first clip from writer/director Andrew Niccol’s The Host featuring Saoirse and Max Irons has been released online. The clip shows the first encounter between Melanie Stryder (Saoirse) and Jared Howe (Max Irons), before Melanie has been taken over by Wanderer. Check it out!
According to WENN, Saoirse has emerged as a new frontrunner for the project following Emma Watson’s backing out. She does have a very complicated schedule, though, so we should wait until she confirms the rumors.
Cinderella will be directed by Kenneth Branagh and hopes to shoot later this year for a 2014 release. The only person cast in the film so far is Cate Blanchett who will take on the role of the evil stepmother.
You may know Ronan from her roles in Atonement, The Lovely Bones, or City of Ember. The actress has a slew of projects lined up in the next year including How I Live Now, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and How to Catch a Monster. If she were to take on Cinderella, her schedule may prove to be a bit challenging to work with.
We like the choice of Ronan for Cinderella because she has the girl-next-door look, which is perfect for the early part of her character arc.

A new clip from Saoirse’s latest film, “The Host”, has been released by Regal Movie’s youtube channel. Check it out:
IFC Films has pencilled in a June 28th US release date for Neil Jordan’s thriller ‘Byzantium.’ ‘Byzantium’ is the story of a deadly pairing of a mother vampire, Clara (Gemma Arterton), and daughter, Eleanor (Saoirse Ronan). In addition to Arterton and Ronan the film co-stars Sam Riley, Daniel Mays, Caleb Landry Jones, Uri Gavriel and Jeff Mash. Moira Buffini (Tamara Drewe, Jane Eyre) penned the script, adapting her own stage play. ‘Byzantium’ is Jordan’s second vampire flick after the Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise-starring ‘Interview With the Vampire.’ The synopsis for the film can be read below. ‘Byzantium’ is set for a May 3rd release in the UK.
Eleanor and Clara, two mysterious and penniless young women, flee the scene of a violent crime and arrive in a run-down coastal resort. They try to find money and refuge along the tawdry seafront and in the dilapidated hotels.
Clara, ever-practical, sells her body. She soon meets shy and lonely Noel, who provides a roof over their heads in his seedy guesthouse, Byzantium. Clara, always looking towards the future, turns it into a ‘pop-up’ brothel.
Meanwhile Eleanor, the eternal schoolgirl, meets Frank, a kindred spirit who unwittingly prompts her to tell the truth about her life. She tells him that Clara is her mother; yet Clara is only a few years older. She says that she was born in 1804; yet she is just sixteen. She confesses that she must drink human blood to stay alive – and so must her mother. In the small, quiet town, people start to die.
And the past that the girls have been running from for so long, finally catches up with them – with astonishing consequences.
