Lionsgate has given an awards season release date to 1950s romantic drama Brooklyn. The film, directed by John Crowley, will be released on Nov 6 in Ireland and Nov 27 in the UK.
Brooklyn had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
Set in the early 1950s, Brooklyn is the story of a young woman, Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) who moves from small town Ireland to Brooklyn, NY where she has the opportunity for work and for a future.
She also finds love with Italian-American Tony (Emory Cohen). But when a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself absorbed into her old community, but now with eligible Jim (Domhnall Gleeson) courting her. As she repeatedly postpones her return to America, Eilis finds herself confronting the choice between two men and two countries.
The cast also includes Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters.
Adapted from Colm Tóibín’s bestseller by Nick Hornby (An Education), producers are Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey (Quartet, An Education).

Variety reported that Saoirse joined the project for “The Seagull” alongside Annette Bening.
Saoirse Ronan and Annette Bening are set to star in a movie adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull,” which has been added to the Cannes sales slate of Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur’s K5 Intl.
The film will be directed by Michael Mayer, who won a Tony in 2007 for “Spring Awakening” and was nominated for “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” last year. It has been adapted by playwright Stephen Karam, who wrote Pulitzer Prize finalist “Sons of the Prophet.” The producers are Leslie Urdang (“Rabbit Hole”), actor-producer Tom Hulce (“Amadeus”) and Bob Salerno (“21 Grams,” “We Need to Talk About Kevin”).
Bening, who has been nominated for four Oscars, most recently appeared alongside Al Pacino in “Danny Collins.” Ronan’s latest credits include “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and Sundance player “Brooklyn,” which Fox Searchlight picked up for the U.S.
Also in “The Seagull” are Corey Stoll, who was Golden Globe nominated for “House of Cards,” and newcomer Billy Howle, who was a standout in Richard Eyre’s Olivier Award-winning production of “Ghosts.” Costumer designer is Ann Roth, and production designer is Jane Musky, with Matthew Lloyd taking on d.p. duties. The film is shooting in upstate New York this summer.
WME and CAA, which helped package the film, are also handling domestic rights.

It’s no Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? And while we adore Lifetime movies of that ilk, this weekend’s television premiere of Stockholm, Pennsylvania — an intense kidnapping thriller that debuted earlier this year at Sundance — is a welcome addition to the Lifetime library of mother-daughter drama movies.
Pithily described by star Cynthia Nixon as “Misery with a mother and daughter,” the movie, from first-time director Nikole Beckwith, also stars Atonement Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan, 21, as Leia, a young woman who was kidnapped when she was four-years-old. After spending 17 years with captor Ben, Leia is returned to her parents, and the reunited family is not fated for a happily-ever-after ending.
Ronan, who is fascinating and heartbreaking as Leia, talks to Yahoo TV about telling this aspect of a kidnapping story — which was recently nominated for a Critics Choice award — and the TV shows that are inspiring her to look for a small-screen starring role herself.

If there’s one thing that’s plagued Saoirse Ronan her entire life, it’s people mispronouncing her name. For those wondering, she says, “I pronounce it Sir-sha like inertia.” It’s one of the only things she has in common with her character Leia in Lifetime’s new eerie film Stockholm, Pennsylvania.
Leia, a young girl who was kidnapped at age 4 and raised by her captor Ben (Jason Isaacs) as a daughter, has gone through life unaware of the outside world, her real family, and even her real name (it’s actually LeeAnn). The unusual premise, which drops the viewer off right when Leia is returned to her biological parents Marcy (Cynthia Nixon) and Glen (David Warshofsky), gave the kidnap victim story an unusual twist that’s unlike most stories in the same category, including Lifetime’s recent success Cleveland Abduction.
“It’s not your typical kidnap victim story, and it doesn’t focus on the actual act of kidnapping a kid,” Ronan, 21, explains to Us Weekly. “It’s about [her] relationship [with Ben], and it’s about her relationship with her mother and how both relationships have kind of affected each other. With her relationship with Ben in particular, I didn’t treat it as someone who was keeping me captive, but just someone who was my complete world and meant everything to Leia.”
Nominations for the 2015 Critics Choice Television Awards were announced Wednesday and the film Stockholm, Pennsylvania starring Saoirse as Leia received the following nominations:
• Best Movie Made for Television
• Best Supporting Actor in a Movie or Limited Series: Jason Isaacs
• Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or Limited Series: Cynthia Nixon

According to ScreenDaily, Saoirse joined the project for ‘Loving Vincent’:
Principal photography has begun on animated feature Loving Vincent at London’s Three Mills Studio. The film tells the story of the final months and mysterious death of artist Vincent Van Gogh.
Billed as “the world’s first painted animation feature”, the film aims to bring Van Gogh’s masterpieces to life in a unique way. Live action footage will be filmed and then projected, frame by frame, onto canvas and painted over in oils in the style of Van Gogh.
A total of 60 painters will work for a year to complete the 57,800 oil paintings making up the film.
Loving Vincent stars Douglas Booth (The Riot Club), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Chris O’Dowd (Calvary), Saoirse Ronan (The Grand Budapest Hotel), John Sessions (The Iron Lady), Eleanor Tomlinson (Poldark), and Aidan Turner (The Hobbit).
It is directed by Dorota Kobiela (The Little Postman) and Oscar-winner Hugh Welchman (Peter & The Wolf), produced by Welchman and Ivan Mactaggart (My Week with Marilyn) and written by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman.
Executive producers are Sean Bobbitt and David Parfitt.
The film is a co-production between Poland’s Breakthru Films, run by Welchman, and Trademark Films, the UK production outfit of David Parfitt, winner of the Best Film Oscar for Shakespeare in Love.
