Saoirse Ronan to star in Ed Sheeran’s ‘Galway Girl’ Music Video

Musician Ed Sheeran has confirmed that Saoirse Ronan will star in the much anticipated music video for “Galway Girl”, shot in the west of Ireland earlier this week.

Speaking on the Eoghan McDermott Show, the singer talked about filming the video with the Oscar-nominated actress in Salthill earlier this week:

“She’s just a phenomenal talent. It’s kind of weird because I was shooting some of the video myself, there are some points when I’m holding the camera and she just… off screen is normal and just like a cool person then as soon as the camera goes on she just turns… it’s amazing to watch. It was like a really phenomenal thing to watch, I’ve never really seen a young actor or actress that good. She’s really talented.”

Happy 23rd Birthday Saoirse!

Today our beloved girl is turning 23 year’s old. We are wishing her a wonderful birthday filled with love, joy and happiness. Happy Birthday Saoirse!!

I Heart Saoirse has a new look!

Hey guys! Our fansite has a brand new look! After a year and a half with the previous theme, we got new ones designed by our friends Ray and Neide. It’s the first time either one has ever made us a layout, and we hope you like the result as much as we do.

2016: A Year In Review

We are starting a new tradition over @ I Heart Saoirse, in which we review the high points of Saoirse’s career at the end of yeach year. Our very first YEAR IN REVIEW is about an eventful one, featuring many award nominations and new film productions. Come along!

Following a very busy end of 2015, Saoirse started 2016 receiving a nomination at the Academy Awards for her work in ‘Brooklyn’ (x), a film that got her over 50 Best Actress nominations through the season. Still in January, it was announced that Saoirse had been cast as lead in ‘Lady Bird’, Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut (x). The month ended with the release of the first promotional still from ‘The Seagull’ (x).

Join Saoirse’s 23rd Brithday Project!

Hello everyone! We have recently decided to start a fan project in honor of Saoirse’s 23rd Birthday, which is on April 12, 2017. Our current idea is to make her a scrapbook, containing any kind of content created by you guys and put together by us. That means you can write Saoirse a letter, make her a drawing, write her a song – anything you want, and we will include it in a fanmade book that will be sent her way in March. Pictures of yourself with DVDs of her films, her shows, autographed stuff, and even pictures with her (if you’re lucky to have one!) are also great ideas to include.

If you’re making her anything by hand – letter, drawing and etc – make sure the image you send us of it is clear. Needless to say, anything that seems disrespectful to Saoirse herself, her family or work colleagues will not be included. Other than that, feel free to let your imagination go wild. If it fits in a book, it will be on ours.

If you wanna take part in our project, please send the content you wish to include in the scrapbook to contact@saoirse-ronan.com until February 12, 2017, and make sure you include your name and preferably the place you are from. You can also e-mail us any questions you might have, or you can contact us via Twitter and Facebook.

‘Mary Queen of Scots’ to film in 2017

Saoirse has confirmed she is still attached to the film MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS, which was first announced by Deadline back in 2012. Josie Rourke, the Donmar Warehouse’s artistic chief, has agreed to direct the motion picture, and filming begins in 2017. This project has been in and out of Saoirse’s IMDb page ever since we first opened the site, so we couldn’t be happier it is finally going into production.

Crowned the queen of Scotland before she was a year old, Mary added to that pedigree when her first husband became France’s king and she became queen consort in 1559. Despite that auspicious start, things didn’t go well from there. She later married her first cousin, a bad match that ended with his murder. When she quickly married the man suspected of orchestrating the killing, an uprising against the couple resulted in her imprisoned in Loch Leven Castle. Forced to abdicate her throne to her year-old son, she failed in an attempt to wrest back the throne and fled for the protection of her cousin, England’s Queen Elizabeth 1. If you’ve seen Elizabeth or any movie about that period, you know how well that worked out for Mary, who’d once claimed to be the rightful queen of England, a view embraced by Catholics. Once she was perceived as a threat by her cousin, Mary was confined and ultimately executed for complicity in a plot to assassinate Elizabeth.

Happy Birthday, Saoirse!

Today is our beloved Saoirse’s Birthday!! She is now 22 glorious years old. We hope she has had a wonderful day, next to the people she loves. Congratulations, Saoirse!

Saoirse attended the 88th Academy Awards last night, in which she was nominated for Best Actress for the film “Brooklyn”. She wore a stunning custom made Calvin Klein dress, and mentioned several times she chose to use green in honor of her Irish heritage. Our gallery has been updated with images from the red carpet, as well as images of her preparation for the event and from her arrival at the Vanity Fair after party.
