Saoirse has made her very first appearance on “The Host” tour! She missed her flight and could not attend yesterday’s book signing, but she did make it today for both the signing and the Special Fan Screening. I’ve added photos of the events to our gallery!
Saoirse talked about her upcoming role as Mary in the film “Mary Queen of Scots” to STV last month, while promoting the well received Neil Jordan vampire film Byzantium at the Glasgow Film Festival.
“I’m hopefully going to be playing Mary Queen of Scots in the second half of the year, and I’m really looking forward to it, just coming back to Scotland. Scottish history is fascinating, and it’s very similar to Irish history. When I read the script, and I started reading up a little bit about Mary, I found it really touched a nerve, because it’s very similar to what we went through as well. So I really hope it works out, I’d love to play her.”

It took me a while, but I’ve finally managed to get high quality photos from the premiere of “Byzantium” during the Gasgow Film Festival last month. Saoirse posed for photos next to her father, take a look:

The first clip from writer/director Andrew Niccol’s The Host featuring Saoirse and Max Irons has been released online. The clip shows the first encounter between Melanie Stryder (Saoirse) and Jared Howe (Max Irons), before Melanie has been taken over by Wanderer. Check it out!
According to WENN, Saoirse has emerged as a new frontrunner for the project following Emma Watson’s backing out. She does have a very complicated schedule, though, so we should wait until she confirms the rumors.
Cinderella will be directed by Kenneth Branagh and hopes to shoot later this year for a 2014 release. The only person cast in the film so far is Cate Blanchett who will take on the role of the evil stepmother.
You may know Ronan from her roles in Atonement, The Lovely Bones, or City of Ember. The actress has a slew of projects lined up in the next year including How I Live Now, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and How to Catch a Monster. If she were to take on Cinderella, her schedule may prove to be a bit challenging to work with.
We like the choice of Ronan for Cinderella because she has the girl-next-door look, which is perfect for the early part of her character arc.
